Elizabeth Irene Rahrick, the last surviving child of Joseph and Elizabeth (Mastel) Rahrick, Sr., joined her parents and nine brothers and sisters at the Lord’s side on Thursday, March 29, 2012.
Betty, as we all know her, graduated from Ipswich High School, joined the War Price and Rationing Board on November 1, 1943 and in June of 1946 she transferred to the Farm Security Administration. In November of that same year, she transferred to the Farmers Home Administration where she worked for the next 42 years and 2 months. During these years, she received many awards of achievement for her hard work and contributions to the agency.
Betty lived a quiet life in Ipswich until she moved to Aberdeen for health reasons. She was an exemplary, generous, dignified and loving lady who took great pleasure in reading, travelling all over the world and in helping her sister, Katherine, to raise her two children, Kathie and David. Until her illness, Betty was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church Altar Society and the American Legion.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.
Those who preceded her in death were her brothers; Joseph Jr who died in early infancy, Joseph II, Wendelin, Adam, George and Gabriel, and her sisters; Rose Montymeyer, Ann Schwall and Katherine TerEick.
